How to softmod your xbox

Things Needed To MoD your XbOx:

Action Replay, Its about 30$ at Bestbuy, or u could just borrow it from a friend
Splinter Cell (First Edition, NON-Platnium Series) OR, 007: Agent Under Fire or Mechassault the original can’t be platinum hits one(better if bought used so u can be sure it will work)
Action Replay Saves in the downloads section (look for the linux file)
PPF-O-MATIC
the .map files you want to mod, found on your xbox harddrive, we’ll get to this later
SmartFtp (www.smartftp.com) or go to the downloads section

You need all of these things except the .map file that will come later in the tut.

PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL THE EVOX OR UNLEASHED X DASH UNLESS YOU FOR SURE KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING!!!!!!!!!

Get everything I listed above before moving on

Putting the linux file on your xbox HD

1. Open up your Action Replay Program

2. Download the Linux Saves for your game (if can’t be found on here just get the linux saves from your action replay make sure the save goes with your game)

3. Transfer your Action Replay Saves to your Action Replay memory card

How to do this:

open the action replay program
plug in your memory card into the action replay USB device then into your USB port on your comp. Open up the online saves folder(located far right) then open up community saves, then find the game that you are using then find the linux file that you want. After that it’s as simple as 123
1) Drag linux file to “PC Database”
2) Wait for it to load- then drag to “Memory Card”
3) Wait for it to load- unplug the memory card and copy the saves to your xbox Hard drive.

4. Run the game that your using the exploits on. (I will be using mechassualt)

5. Go to Campaign mode, then select Run Linux, you should see an alternate dashboard come up(evox or unleash-x) then make sure you backup everything before installing the dash.(bckup: emprom, MS dash, exc)

1. Go into the System Utils, or settings on another dashboard or game, on the evox menu and then go to system settings.

2. In it, it will say your xbox's ip address, write it down if u need to. Make sure you get the right ip address if you use your computers ip this wont work.

3. go back to your comp. and start smart ftp

*You might need to disable all your fire walls and internet filters for it to work

4. at the top you'll see a little bar that says address next to it put the xbox ip adress and next to that (“user name”) type xbox and next to that(“password”) type xbox, than look further up and you’ll see the port box in that type in “21”,way to the left you’ll see a computer and when you run your cursor over it, it says connect, click it and you’ll connect

Getting The Maps Off of Your Xbox

1. a crap load of folders will pop up C, D, E, F, X, Y, Z,
Click on the E folder
Then click TDATA
Then 4d530064
Then $c
Then 4d53006400000001 (or 4d53006400000002 or 4d53006400000003 depending on what maps you want modded)
Then you'll see the .map files, transfer the ones you want to mod to your computer (just drag and drop to the left screen)

Applying Your Mods

0. REMEMBER: before you patch the map Make a friggin backup it saves time and stress.

1. When you have the .map files on your computer, boot up ppf-o-matic

2. open up ppf-o-matic and you'll see to fields on saying ISO file and one saying patch, click on the disk to the right of ISO file, a browser will pop up and at the bottom it will say Cd Images, click that and switch it to "all files" then resume browsing for the .map file you transferred

3. When you have the .map in the top field you can go to the patch one, click the disk and look for where you saved the .ppf file

4. When both are there click apply, a message will pop up saying that you can now burn the image to disk, just click ok or close, it’s not important.

5. Go back to smartftp if you closed out of it reconnect to your xbox and go back to the folder described in step ten.

6. Once there, in the left side of the program window look for your patched .map file (it will be in the same spot as when you transfered it from your xbox in step 10) drag that file over to the right side of the program window (the xbox part) and it might ask you to overwrite, click overwrite and it will begin to transfer your patched/modded .map file to your xbox.

7. Then restart your xbox and enjoy the sweet taste of freshly modded maps.

when you want to play the game on or off line (xbl) always cold-start your xbox.
Cold-starting your xbox is when you turn on your xbox with the game already in it.
